LA Photo Diary Pt. 1

It's been several days since I've been back in the 808 and I must say, I am missing LA enormously.  Tim and I made the goal to move there, if the not by the end of next year, then the beginning of 2015.  I've been there once in '09 and then again for a business trip last summer and I've really come to appreciate everything that it stands for, especially it's cultural diversity.  Over the next week or so I will be uploading photos from the trip, but here are a few from the first couple of days. Some days I took my L120 and others, when I didn't feel like carrying a bulky camera, I used my S01.

On a side note, I only have three days left before my career with Macy's starts.  I'm so nervous, but excited at the same time!

Sing with me, just for today

Testing the panoramic setting on my phone.
Yay it's finally Friday!  This might be my last full weekend off in awhile so tomorrow we're spending the day in Kailua.  Don't know if I mentioned this, but I accepted a supervisor position at the old Macy's I interned for during the summer.  It'll prepare me for my future executive position in March:)  Hopefully there isn't a conflict of interest with American Apparel.  I'm still waiting for a call for approval of that (keeping my fingers crossed).  Anyway, this past week wasn't so busy, but it should actually be busy.  Since I don't work at AA so much anymore, and start Macy's next Tuesday, I really should be using my free time to concentrate on my APDM portfolio, internship notebook, and presentation, but I'm not.  Hopefully I'll be inspired to do this sometime soon because deadlines are looming; instead I've been sitting around watching a lot of tv.  Anyway these are some photos of the past week.  Spent Monday playing tourist in Waikiki...that was super fun and the first time in a while that I've rocked in a rocking chair.  I've come to appreciate just sitting around and listening to my surroundings...it's so relaxing and takes me away from the busy worldYesterday we did some of the same and sat in the shade a Kapiolani park.  I wasn't able to really get any photos from Halloween because we stayed at one bar the whole night and I was feeling a little woozy. Hehe

So the weather people are saying it'll be hot and voggy tomorrow.  Wishing this doesn't affect my Saturday plans...

I'm Wide Awake

Oh you know, just random photo from a Yellowcard concert we went to a couple of weeks ago
Got this post title because I'm watching The Voice while writing this and that's the song that came on.  It's been a while since I've written a post, I can't even begin to tell you when the last time was...maybe a couple of weeks ago?  It's not that school and work have been taking all of my time, I just get so tired after working out after work that sometimes I just feel like not doing anything.  Not very mature, I know.  So anyway, just got an exciting offer to work with Macy's during the holiday season.  Not sure what the position was called, but it's kind of a supervisory position, which will definitely prepare me for my EDP position in March, so I had to jump on the opportunity.  I still would like to stay with American Apparel if they allow me to work only a couple of days a week.  If that's the case, I'm gonna need more than the bus and using my mom's car so I'm planning on going to the dealership sometime this weekend, and hopefully I'll come home with a car:)

So this past week a good friend of mine got married to a good friend of my boyfriend's.  It was an amazing time with friends and I wish we could relive the week over and over again, but know that I have to move forward and can't live on repeat.  That's what photos and videos are for, I guess.  Big congratulations to the bride and groom and I wish you a life together full of lots of happiness:)

So many good things are happening, and they're all happening so fast that I don't know how to react.  Sometimes I get so caught up in making a decision because of how I feel at the moment instead of how it will affect me in the future.  I know that a lot of people don't get the opportunity to make these kinds of decisions so I'm thankful and hope I made the right decision.  I think I'm just afraid to give up the free time I have now, but it's time to act like a grown up and just do it.  Better make the most of the next couple of weeks.

Waikiki Window Displays

Now that my week break is almost over I need to get my life back in order.  But not before I go the North Shore this weekend: beach, Giovannis, Lanikai acai bowls in Haleiwa (weird, I know), and just good 'ole fun.  I don't know if anyone cares, but I realized when going through my blog, that I haven't had an outfit post in a while...guess I'm gonna have to change that soon.  Anyway, during my internship I still had some time to take photos of window displays in Waikiki, thus, the photos below.  I still can't believe YSL is changing their iconic name to Saint Laurent Paris.  Does this make past pieces obsolete since they will not have the current name on their tags, or more valuable since these pieces are limited and will no longer be made with this name...more valuable I think.

Nightwatch

Quick update on what I've been working on.  The internship at Macy's is going great and if any of you ever get the chance to intern for Macy's I say, take it.  It is very tiring for me t to work on the sales floor for 40 hours, but the experience is so rewarding and I hope to use everything I've learned in my future.  They are sending interns in the Southwest region to LA in a few weeks and I am excited to meet everyone.  I have been taking advantage of my days off, eating at places that I miss because I never have the time to eat there anymore and working on my own little retail projects.  I have been snapping window displays and floor layouts of various stores to see what trends are in, in Hawaii, and comparing them to those on the mainland...quite interesting.

Here are just a few photos I took from last night and a few weeks ago.  For other photos, please visit my instagram:)

Test Shots Nikon L120

Yes, I realize this is the second post of today, but I didn't want to mix photos that were not cohesive so whatever.  Spent the morning at in Waikiki.  Tim and I had lunch at Maui Tacos at the Royal Hawaiian, which I have been craving for a long time.  Took some photos at the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian.  Also took some while on the road.  I must say, this camera is impressing me a lot.  The highway was so bumpy and it still managed to get clear photos.  I think I have found a new friend!

Cheerio!
